Renault Winery is a recognized New Jersey State Historical site and the second oldest operating winery in the United States. Overview 

The Commercial Maintenance Plumber is responsible for the maintenance, and repair of all plumbing systems across Renault Winery’s 63-room hotel, bar, and outdoor venues. This role supports guest rooms, restaurants/bars, event spaces, and back-of-house operations through proactive maintenance, fast response to issues, and close coordination with the facilities and hospitality teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on domestic hot and cold water, sanitary, small boilers, pumps and storm systems serving guest rooms, public restrooms, kitchens, bars, and outdoor venues. 

  • Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures and equipment including toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, urinals, kitchen and bar sinks, mop sinks, floor drains, ice machines, ejector / grinder systems and dishwashers. 

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair water heaters, recirculation systems, pumps, filters, and related controls to ensure consistent hot water and reliable service during peak occupancy and events. 

  • Respond quickly to work orders and emergencies such as leaks, clogs, sewer backups, overflows, low water pressure, and temperature complaints in guest rooms, event spaces, and common areas. 

  • Perform regular drain cleaning and blockage prevention in high-use areas including bars, banquet kitchens, and outdoor venues. 

  • Inspect, test and maintain backflow prevention devices and other protection systems in accordance with code and property standards. 

  • Support outdoor venues by maintaining hose bibs, irrigation-related plumbing, and drainage for patios, tents, and seasonal event spaces. 

  • Coordinate system shutdowns and tie-ins for room renovations, event space upgrades, and capital projects on the property. 

  • Ensure all work complies with plumbing codes, health department requirements, and resort safety policies. 

  • Communicate effectively with front desk, housekeeping, culinary, bar, and events to schedule work, minimize guest impact, and support event timelines. 

 Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a plumbing apprenticeship or trade/technical program preferred. 

  • Valid New Jersey plumbing license (journeyman or higher, as applicable). 

  • 5+ years of commercial plumbing experience; hospitality, hotel, resort, or food-and-beverage/winery experience strongly preferred. 

  • Familiarity with sanitation and health codes as they relate to commercial kitchens, bars, and beverage production areas. 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and equipment manuals. 

  • Experience using preventive maintenance programs and electronic work order systems. 

  • Strong customer-focused attitude and professional communication skills for a guest-facing resort environment. 

  • Ability to work in tight spaces, mechanical rooms, and outdoor environments; able to lift and move equipment as needed. 

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations to support events and peak seasons. 

Schedule and Work Environment 

  • Full-time, on-site at Renault Winery Resort, covering hotel, bar, winery, and outdoor event spaces. 

  • Standard shift with rotating on-call responsibilities for after-hours and emergency calls, especially during weddings, large events, and peak occupancy.
